Our Pastor
Our pastor is Steven W Ruth. He was born and raised in Lovington, NM. He was raised attending Hillcrest Baptist Church and Christ redeemed him at the age of 12. He graduated from High School in 1982 and married Valorie Richardson on April 15, 1983. Steve surrendered to the gospel ministry in the spring of 1985 and he and Valorie moved to Belton, Texas that fall where he attended the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor. Since entering the ministry, Steve has been a music and youth minster, chaplain/houseparent at a boys ranch, planted churches in Texas, Oregon and Idaho and has led two church restarts here in Idaho. He also was commissioned as a NAMB missionary in northern Idaho where he served before he and his family moved to Weiser in June of 2007 when he began pastoring here at Calvary.Valorie was also raised in Lovington, NM and attended Lovington High School. She has been a stay-at-home mom most of her 38 years of marriage. Valorie’s jobs outside the home included: a deputy clerk for Bell County in Texas, a bus driver for a private Christian school and supervisor for a large telecommunications company in North Idaho. She was also the music teacher at Park School and also worked in the Special Ed department at Park School as a one-on-one aid. She and Steve have been very active in child protection for the State of Idaho and have had many foster children placed in their care. She also loves to lead out in Women’s Ministry.
Steve & Valorie have four grown sons and two lovely girls at home. Their oldest child Matthew is married to Sabrina and lives in Lewiston, Idaho and has three children; Mercedies, Trinity & Gabriel. Matthew is a teacher at a Children’s Home for High Risk Boys. Nathan is married to Elena and they live in Post Falls, Idaho. Nathan is a Computer Software Engineer in Coeur d’ Alene. They have two sons Ethan & Evan and a darling little girl Ellie Ann. Benjamin is living here in Weiser. He is an Assistant Manager the local grocery store. He is married to Katie and they have a precious daughter Natalie and an amazing son Anthony. Samuel, a Sr. at Washington State University in Pullman is studying to become a Physical Therapist and is Busy with College and Working with RESONATE his Campus Bible Groups. Abigail (Abby) is now 16 and is truly a very beautiful, happy young lady ~ inside and out and loves to sketch and other forms of artwork. She is very loving and kind and helps so much with her little sister. She attends River of Life Christian Academy in Payette. Steve and Valorie complete their family with the addition of their daughter Naomi. Naomi is 10 and is a remarkable little girl. She is the most pleasant person one could ever meet, thus her name Naomi. She is a medically fragile child and a fighter who loves to laugh and smile. She is also profoundly deaf and so very smart. She brings sunshine into the room and gives joy to anyone who meets her.
